In Loving Memory of Heath Ledger

Note from His Squareness: This post was written by McDreamSteam a year ago. I repeat, a YEAR ago. I can’t find a perfect time to publish this but since yesterday was exactly a year since he left us, I figured it’s time to let it out. I have taken out some NSFW caps as well. Here’s hoping for an Oscar win!
OK, OK. I know. I promised some Cam Gigandent. Well, it’s from The O.C., so it’s going to take a while to find and compile Cam. So, I decided to do some Heath Ledger, in memory of him. Is that twisted? It might be a little bit. But, I still can’t believe he’s dead. This may possibly be the most shocking and depressing celebrity death I’ve ever experienced. And I know that there’s already someone on “Brokeback Mountain”, so I’m not presenting you with “Brokeback Mountain” caps. I’m presenting you with “Candy” caps instead.
“Candy” was a little independent film that Heath did in 2004 or 2005 with Abbie Cornish and Geoffrey Rush. In it, he and Abbie Cornish play drug addicts. It may be one of the most powerful performances of his career (along with “Brokeback”). But enough of my eulogy. Let’s get onto the caps.

Man, I’ve been thinking the exact same thing for a year now: that’s “the most shocking and depressing celebrity death I’ve ever experienced”. And I also still cannot believe he’s dead. He was spectacular. And I’m sure he deserves the Oscar, not because he died when he was just getting good, but because “Batman – The dark knight” was all about the Joker. That’s his movie. Should’ve been called “The Joker”. Period.
Great caps, McDreamSteam. Excelent homage, Square, very nice.

Think his acting in Dark Knight was way over the top and he was only nominated because he died so young. He was far superior in Brokeback Mountain and should have won the oscar for that role. A little late so they will give it to him this year for this very bad acting job in the worst movie of the year.
candy was such a breathtaking movie. ive been following his career since 10 things i hate about you because even in that you could see he was something else. there will be an empty space in my heart forever.
Cute, great smile, friendly furry and talented, that is how I recall Heath. Although I agree with Tom, his preformance in the Dark Night, although good, to me was not Oscar worthy and more a testement I think to his loss.
I still don’t deal with it very well. I acquired some of his clothes and autographs before he died and I even kept some on the site. But I thought it was a little weird having 2 sets of his Brokeback undies on the site…so they aren’t there anymore. Someday I’ll post them again. But not yet. I also can’t bring myself to see him as the Joker or a druggie in Candy, yet. I have this idea of how I want to remember him and I’m still sorting it all out.
In some warped alternate universe, I imagine that he has met up with the late Jack Twist as Mel Gibson’s fresh-faced son. The characters are still too real. Pathetic. I know.
All y’all gotta understand there was NO way in hell that the homophobic Hollywood powers that be were EVER gonna give Best Picture, or Best Actor, Oscar to ANY actor playing a gay role(a lesbian role would be a totally different matter)…So yes there was a certain “OMG I can’t believe he’s gone!” factor going on in giving Heath(Requiem Eternaum)the Oscar this year-he could have just stared at the screen and said nothing-and he still would have won it. Before the inevitable backlash-I loved Heath, and will miss seeing what promised to be a great body(pun intended)of work.
Heath will always be in the hearts of eveyone who watch him develope in his career. He gave so much and went beyond what many actors can do. His death hit hard for me. I will never forget the joy he broke to all in life and on the screen.
He was amazing, and so charming. One of the new generation’s greatest actors, right next to Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Gosling, Emile Hirsch, James Franco and a few others.
I’ll miss his talent an his cute face, and that’s forever.

Each movie role he ever took on was so varied and convincing. I’ll always remember his performance as Ennis Del Mar and his facial expressions in the last minutes of Brokeback that filled my heart with empathy and tears. RIP Heath
