Whatever Happened To Growing Up Normally

Taylor Lautner Shirtless

File this under: uncomfortable post of the day but I’m going to post it anyways. What in the what now? Taylor Lautner is only sixteen and he already building muscles and drinking protein shakes like there’s no tomorrow, in preparation for his upcoming role as the next Robert Pattinson. Is this really necessary?! Do you girls find this hot? By the way, this totally reminds me of that disturbing clip of a 7 year old bodybuilder. Whatever happened to growing up like a normal teenager and do normal teenager stuff? So wrong.

Naturally does not exist anymore. People demand this look, same as they do with the herion sheek looking female models. You have to have the “look” to be sucessful, so you have to market yourself. I would equate this to shaving ones chest to look younger. But your right Square, what ever happened to people just being themselves and having a natural physique, like they did in vintage porn days.

  2. len on January 12th, 2009 at 9:18 am

i hate that artificial look. if you want natural you have to look at european and english stars and movies. thank god this chemical look isn’t SO popular there.

pot, meet kettle. i mean, come on. this blog’s raison d’etre is to objectify guys and celebrate their hotness. i’ve got nothing at all against that, and suggest dropping the feigned outrage crap. it’s not a good look.

  4. Square on January 12th, 2009 at 11:05 am

Point taken. It’s just that I think 16 is a tad too early for having a routine workout , gaining muscle mass and worry about daily protein intake. But hey, maybe it’s just me.

  5. LeadingMan on January 12th, 2009 at 11:30 am

The pot and kettle reference is interesting, but I suppose the question is “What’s the hurry?”

All the guys I knew with advanced puberty issues look like hell in their late 30s. Sometimes looking healthy, especially unnaturally early, just isn’t healthy. And I can’t imagine having a “license” to act 25 when you have the maturity of 16-year-old is especially healthy to your mental health either.

Pretty to look at. Scary to deal with in reality.

    Oh my…

  7. Christopher on January 12th, 2009 at 12:07 pm

to Square- i agree with your thought about growing naturally but it must be
stated Taylor is doing the muscle building, workouts and protein
shake routine for a very simple reason. he does not want to lose
out on playing Jacob in NEW MOON. the film’s producers are a bit
wary of him reprising the role of Jacob in NM since he well wasn’t
all that buff in TWILIGHT. in NM Jacob is supposed to be *really*
    buff.

eeeh thats not even a 6 pack its an 8 pack :S no go for me. and well under my 40yo limit

  9. duckhunter 1 on January 12th, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Whats wrong with a good body? His at his peak lets keep it there

Yummy yum yum now where is the chest pelt???

  10. Robert Frank on January 12th, 2009 at 4:20 pm

As long as he’s hit puberty and he’s not taking any kind of muscle growth concoctions or steroids, there’s nothing wrong with lifting weights and building muscle for a 16 year old. He should do it naturally, being mindful of proper nutrition, and not making it an obsession. Boys lift weights in high school all the time. And, from the pictures, he looks very good.

  11. dieguito on January 13th, 2009 at 12:04 am

He’s an actor preparing for a role. As Christopher said, he is going to play “jacob· in the up-coming film New Moon, and in the movie jacob drastically changes his body and gets REALLY buff!

It’s not different from an actor who gains a couple of pounds to play a role. He does it for his job, not because he doesn’t have anything else to do :P

BTW: HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!! I could drink that 8-pack when he wants me to :P !!!!

    so f***ing hot!

  14. metcalfe on January 13th, 2009 at 1:13 pm

This guy can’t compete with Pattinson for true sexiness or charm….

but he is endearing, and congrats to him for keeping the role

but he’s still just a child

Ahem! Square is all abou the natural beauty otherwise we wouldn’t hear constant lamentation about the lack of chest hair! Not to mention the amount of adorkables on this site.

This is where we separate the men from the boys. Square did not post those pictures to say: “oooh, look at this deliciousness” but rather to raise a valid point, because this blog is and has always been about natural freakin’ beauty.

  16. Jazz on January 14th, 2009 at 9:38 am

I’m 16 myself, I think this is quite horrible actually. A lot of my friends who are guys go to the gym, but if any of them looked like this, I think I would puke. He has a very nice face, but at 16 he should look like a teenager, not like that. Do any other girls or guys that are teenagers think he should have a little bit of fat on him?

  17. trina on January 15th, 2009 at 4:19 am

eh.. he was cute before.. now he honestly looks really fugg with all those muscles..

  18. rasiapink on January 15th, 2009 at 8:47 am

I don’t see anybody sitting around criticizing athletes for having great bodies, so how is it that Taylor can’t be buff even though he’s a natural athlete who does extra for his career? That’s BS

P.S. He looks way perfect to me, and I am a teenager

  19. chloey-boey0016 on January 15th, 2009 at 7:49 pm

I think that he is perfect for Jacob Black. His body in my mind is perfect. He has the kind wirey lean muscles that Bella described in the book. I dont know what its like in other countrys but most Aussie teenage boys get muscles from just working on propertys ( well thats what happens with my guy friends). I think theres and exeption for doing making drastic body changes for actors beacuse from what i’ve heard most films demand certian things and if Jacob Black is described as really built for his age ( whic he is described as) then i think its great that the young actor is so envovled in his character.
    :)

Taylor Lautner is the hottest teenager I’ve ever seen. He has an awesome body. AND IT IS COMPLETELY NATURAL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Taylor Lautner is an athlete. He’s been doing karate and other sports since he was a little kid. He worrks out and eats lean meals. I’m a teenager and I think that he is a hottie, hot, hottie!!!!!1
So anyone who doesn’t get that can go shat themselves.

  21. rasiapink on January 17th, 2009 at 9:09 am

Yup, Hottie Hott Hottie. And he’s way better than Robert Pattinson because of Pattinson apparent desire to connect with the homeless crowd on the field of appearence.Plus Robert’s character was a complete Bag of Douche in New Moon

    So suck on that!

  22. takeyourplacebo on January 19th, 2009 at 3:53 pm

he’s hot! that’s all that should matter…soon he will be 18 then 21 then 25. that Bridgette Joan diary chick gets fat, than skinny in all of her movies.

  23. BR♀TH♂R_S♥RR♥WS on January 29th, 2009 at 5:24 am

I LOVED Tyler Lautner as Sharkboy and the movie was somewhat silly but still perfect because of the good messages and FUN largely because of him. … BUT: he had not shown himself off except for the muscles then and since. As if he didn’t want to look like a sex object or a boy sex object. His website was never interesting. There never was anything wrong with him. I simply lost interest. He later looked artificial with the super-muscled body and I was sure he was a “natural” but it looked odd and off to me. I did not like it.

  24. Josh (Taylor Lautners future husband) on February 21st, 2009 at 11:30 pm

He is so hot nothng wrng with it in my opinion!

  25. Frosty on March 21st, 2009 at 9:33 pm

I can see where other people are coming from by saying he’s not growing up normally & lookin unnatural. But personally I think he looks great & the truth is alot of teenagers start regular weight lifting regimes @ his age. I know alot of guys my age (18) who are “gym junkies” & they started around Taylor’s age. He might just be doing it because he wants to look after himself and look great. So we gotta accept some people like working out some don’t… everyone’s different. We as people either are attracted to guys with chiseled physiques others aren’t. So its personal preference. Anyways thats my opinion don’t hate on me peoples. I think Taylor is gorgeous :)

  26. David on May 15th, 2009 at 6:40 pm

This should be titled ” make average guys feel insecure and ugly”, cause thats what it it did to me :(

  27. robertg on May 15th, 2009 at 8:56 pm

when I was that age, I would have given anything to look like that. the only guys who did were the ones from family farms who came to school on the bus. somehow I managed to be around when the bus got there. someone above mentioned hard work as related to body development. yep. beautiful smooth, natural musculature. much like swimmers.

to a person, these guys were shy. they didn’t live “in town”. Of course I had fantasies of bringing one home just to wise him up to city ways, my town being some 3,000 souls and the county seat. yes, the big city.

if this beautiful young lad has a purpose in mind with his body building jag, I think we can’t say much about it as long as it doesn’t include anabolics, other enhancing drugs. He does reflect, however, our love of the beautiful, lean, muscular body. A national trait that does a great deal of harm to young people who can’t achieve these “standards”.

That being said, he is still a remarkably handsome young fella. maybe he’ll escape the worst of the movie/entertainment industry contamination.

One hopes. he is a nice addition to the site, one way or t’other.

  28. robertg on May 15th, 2009 at 9:21 pm

David, for the most part, the young lads and older men we see on the site are not usually “the average”. Genetics, and a gift for good looks comes from out of nowhere. They didn’t have much to do with it. This young man was born with the potential to look as he does. As are we all. Nothing can be done about it other than artificial treatment. who needs it? shrink time.

Square posts a great many young people, and older ones, too, who are of our, your and my, averageness as might be compared to what the western world considers beautify. Posts often mention these “adorkables” have brains, skills, acting abilities, good senses of humor, etc. and these qualities are what make them sexy far beyond any of the surface traits of “beauty” as we define such a thing.

In other words, what the intelligent and non-discriminatory viewer of this site takes away is a sense that there are so many ways to describe what’s ‘beautiful’ ‘sexy’ to each of us, and that’s one of the great values of the site.

Bloom where you’re planted! It’s what and who you are that matters. The other stuff is window dressing. We like to look at it, and that’s what we do here. My guess is 95% of us could never make the site. ehhh, who gives a shit? nothing wrong with living vicariously.

Enjoy, and knock off that “insecure and ugly” stuff. :) If there ever was insecurity, these people are often loaded with it. And many of the lookers are shallow, unlovable and often unpleasant people. Their beauty got them nowhere. And won’t. Still, we like to look at ‘em! We just don’t take them seriously.

    Relax. You’re fine.

  29. robertg on May 15th, 2009 at 9:30 pm

uh oh! Too many posts that are too long and off topic. mine, that is. I must be more cautious. I don’t want to disturb any self-appointed site censors in their lairs. Still working on the reeducation and reformation of my appreciation of the true worths and goals of the site. Until that ideal is achieved, please be patient. thank you very much.

im a teenage girl and I find it hott.
so yea hes an actor trying 2 adapt 2 his character a bit
    whats so wrong with that?!!

  31. ** on July 19th, 2009 at 12:56 am

He is so hott. Way better then Rob Pattison.

  32. Dom Spain on November 25th, 2009 at 6:43 am

What is NORMAL anyway? I think it is admirable to see a young person taking pride in their bodies and taking their careers seriously! In a day and age where most kids are either obese or strung out on drugs it is not so bad that he is sucking down protein shakes and hitting the gym. I say KUDOS kid and if he were 18 I would show up to preseirs with a MARRY ME sign with th rest of them ;) Only a couple years. To answer your question YES we find it hot. Women LOVE a man that takes care of his body. Muscle feels amazing and totally gets us hot. So get ur butts to the gym and hire a personal trainer so you can stop giving this young hottie grief for his 12 pack or however many that is…I lost count ;) Truly Yours, Dom Spain Fort Lauderdale FL
