Andrew McCarthy in Mannequin

Andrew McCarthy Shirtless

This is not so much a shirtless post but there’s definitely some skin involved. About a million years ago, Joe Bennett from “Lipstick Jungle” and Samantha Jones from “Sex and the City” made a hot movie together called “Mannequin”. This movie has also graced us with 80s power anthem like Starship’s “Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now”, Belinda Carlisle’s “In My Wildest Dreams” and Alisha’s “Do You Dream About Me”. It’s kinda ironic because I think Andrew McCarthy looked more like a mannequin than Kim Catrall in this film. He has that porcelain-y qualities about him, in a good way of course.

Anyways, I had an interview for a Visual Merchandiser position once, but I didn’t take the offer. If it were up to me, every mannequin in the mall will be dressed as Jim Halpert in variety of situations. Come to think of it, I am kinda visual merchandising now; except the mannequins are celebrities and there are little to no clothing involved. Okay I’ll stop now.

I remember this teddy bear scene the most. I don’t know why. Wait, I think I know.

Ah yes, the glory days. Kim Cattrall’s career section 1. Back when she was… talented. Big Trouble In Little China (with the lovely Kurt Russel), Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country, Split Second (with a rugged Rutger Hauer), Police Academy (back when Steve Guttenberg was relevant) and Above Suspicion (with an ironic, yet attractive Christopher Reeve and that really hot guy whom she was stupping in the film). Those were the days. Too bad nothing could save Mannequin 2: On The Move….

And yes, in the bottom right hand corner pointing in the pink sweater. What do I win? 😛

  • Air kiss from Sudeikis, Krasinski, Rudd OR Hamm. I’ll tell him to blow extra hard. And yes you can only choose one.

  • StaticOmega

    I’ll take Rudd. 😉

  • StaticOmega

I’ll take one from Rudd please, extra, extra hard. 😉

  • StaticOmega

    Aargh! I hate comp lag!

This was the movie that convinced me that Kim Cattrall and Andrew McCarthy would never be A-Listers. After this movie, I don’t think I would ever pay to see a movie that either of them were in. I’ve expanded that to include movies starring Tom Cruise and Diane Keaton.

what a godawful mindless moronic movie. Obviously I watched it. You know, like the proverbial train wreck. Reese hit the nail on the head: McCarthy and Cattral’s talents sehr minimal. In “Sex and the City” she was so over-the-top sex crazy, slutty, foul-mouthed, an uninteresting two-dimensional character portrayal. One step away from a sorta classy whorehouse madam.

I know this series was, among other things, supposed to show that women have lust longing just like men, and have potty mouths to go with it. Just like men, too, apparently. It did give us some of the most glorious views of some of the most fabulous shirtless actors.

There was a short, curly-haired, actor with glasses who was having his way with Cynthia Nixon [who knew?!] for several episodes. Great hairy body,
    lean, muscular. Name?

Has anyone else noticed that Sara Jessica Parker is bow-legged? In real life she strains so hard at being a fashionista inventing bizarre ways to wear things no one would think of wearing in various odd combinations that one wonders what the extraordinarily appealing, even now with his “extra pounds”, Matthew Broderick ever saw in her. She is, I have to say, very intelligent, articulate when interviewed, and largely without the usual Hollywood Diva baggage. Apparently I’ve just contradicted myself. These attributes adequately describe her husband as well.

come on…Andrew is (was) cute, boyish and preppy; a look that I adore! I wonder if he has a furry chest now, with his evolving maturity. I place Andrew in the same group as C. Thomas Howell and Topher Grace…I luv ’em all! But, I must admit, a good wet kiss from Rudd would make my day.

  • duckhunter 1

    Oh Square you horny slut!

Mine would look like Daniel radcliffe and proably Seth Green in a humping loving embrace

or on a wall like Zach Creggers naked in College

  • chip

I agree, no “A” list, but i always thought he was completely cute and engaging — reminded me of some of the preppy, but a bit nerdy or geeky guys in my house at university — totally my fantasy type. Thanks, Square, for the memories!!
