Cary Elwes Shirtless in Crush and Lady Jane

When I was a young gay, my idea of a real life Prince Charming can be described in two words; Cary Elwes. Blond hair, blue eyes, perfect nose, smooth lean body — the type you would expect to see in children fairy tale books. Any other type would be either the bad guys (especially the dark and hairy ones), the sidekick or some other non-important secondary or tertiary characters. This has obviously changed over the years, but today let’s revisit our fondest memories of a young Cary in pre-Princess Bride’s “Lady Jane” and later in “The Crush” with Alicia Silverstone. I can’t say that he ages terribly or that he’s a terrible actor, but if I see him on the street today I wouldn’t look twice. Yes, apparently I can be a bit picky at times. Having said that, I’m glad the he’s still actively making decent films compared to some of my other childhood crushes (are you there, C. Thomas Howell & Corey Haim?).

Check out 1984′s Another Country for adorable 22 year old Cary as the object of Rupert Everett’s affection (with bonus appearance by Colin Firth).

this is by far my favorite movie….i don’t care who i show it to….i will always get laid after watching it…has always worked for me…and besides it is a wonderful piece of cinema….

I have always loved Cary, The Princess Bride is seriously one of my favorite movies. He looked particularly hott in the movie Glory. Dirty and violent too, if I might add

I found him outright adorable in (what I think was his first film…GAY film) “Another Country.” (excellent flick) For me, he was the most amazingly sexy, charming, and even funny in “Princess Bride.” (another excellent flick) I’m not into the way he’s aged, but I”m sure he’d say the same for me, so who cares? He was just one very very pretty pretty boy that I drooled over for years. I really liked him thin in “Princess Bride.” I’ll have to see that one again soon.

He had a small, menacing and unnecessary role in the last season of The X-Files. I did not like him at all.

But, ummmm, may have to reconsider after seeing these.

Yes, although I still think he’s very handsome today, in the 80′s & 90′s he really was strikingly beautiful. “Lady Jane” is a good film worth seeing, though the ending is painfully sad. “The Crush” is rather silly, but a guilty pleasure of mine anyway just because Cary was SO HOT!!
