Another oldie movie, this one with often-posted Robert Downey Jr. who was once just another pretty face instead of the bad boy superhero we’ve come to love. “Chances Are” is a sweet sappy flawed but fun reincarnation romantic comedy. You didn’t read it wrong… reincarnation romantic comedy. Downey’s character comes to realize he is the long-dead husband Louie of Cybil Shepard’s character who is long-loved by the couple’s patient best pal Ryan O’Neal. At the same time, daughter Mary Stuart Masterson is falling for her reincarnated daddy who she never knew. Whew.

It’s cute, it’s even cutesy. But it’s a great reminder that Iron Man once was a cutie-pie with eyelashes. I went a little overboard; between quality and quantity, I’ve always liked BOTH! oxo SB
