I always know that my hairy screen bear Peter Sarsgaard never disappoint, and he definitely meets my expectations in “Orphan”. Peter plays the dad, which is a huge bonus point for me and has provided us with several decent shirtless scenes. You know I could ramble on and on about Mr. Sarsgaard’s chunky, fuzzy hotness, but here’s an excellent review by A Little Edgy at the forum at while back for a change. Hairy caps will follow suit.

“Orphan” is a horror/thriller about a couple who adopts a child only to find out that she is not what she seems. The plot is more than a little derivative of other child-gone-bad movies, from “The Bad Seed” to “The Omen” to “Joshua”. On the other hand, if a formula works, why not use it over and over again? Plus the acting is good all around, and the ending has the obligatory twist that all thrillers seem to be required by law to have nowadays. In other words, it is a completely unoriginal but very well done example of the genre. If you like this kind of film, then you’ll enjoy “Orphan”. If you don’t, then you probably won’t … or wouldn’t, except for the following:

SH fave Peter Sarsgaard plays the role of the father of the little terror and plays it well. He is very much in suburban-dad mode, which, in my opinion, is a very sexy mode. He has several shirtless scenes and one (mild) sex scene, and his chest hair — all natural, no sign of trimming, much less shaving — is in full view in all of them. As for his body, Sarsgaard is trim and fit, but not gym-perfect. I find that a very hot look. Once the DVD comes out, there should be clips galore.

<3 now why can’t the large majority of male celebrities take a lesson from Mr. Sarsgaard and keep the fur intact? Maybe a trim here and there is alright to keep the pelt at bay, but c’mon! =D
