Re: Coming out

It's probably best since they're the people that are the most important to you and their support is really necessary.

Re: Coming out

I've had the same problem ; I wasn't sure who to go to first. In my case, I felt it would be easier to tell my mom first. I then told my friends and the rest of my family. Proceed how you feel confortable, that's very important.

Re: Coming out

i just did that yesterday. though im still confused, i told my female friend about the feelings i have for guys. If you are sure, i would say come out to your closest friend first.

"Using therapy to try to turn gay people straight has no basis in science and can actually be harmful, the American Psychological Association says."

Re: Coming out

Not to be rude but if you enjoy davey wavey... yr plenty gay enough to be gay [from the comments in the other coming out thread]. i personally find davey to be representative of the most insipid, shallow parts of gay culture. i dunno who his publicist is but you can't swing a go-go boy without hitting this guy. please don't take him to be a representation of what it means [if it means anything at all] to have same-sex attractions. ymmv and congratulations at coming out. i know how liberating it can feel to finally remove that mask.

Re: Coming out

Now, now, don't get me wrong here. I like his style and the topics he brings up but he is in no way the best representation of what it's like to be gay. He's just one facade of it! After all, being gay is kind of like the ultimate freedom. We're free of the typical models that society promotes smile

Re: Coming out

And don't get _me_ wrong either, hehe. I'm not saying there's not room for Davey and his clones. smile I enjoy diversity but it's very easy for people just coming out to think they need to... adapt to a specific representation of what a "gay lifestyle" should be. I spent a few years trying that myself before I realized I'm not a mainstream person either inside or outside the gay community. heh

Re: Coming out

I guess I didn't push the final button on the post I meant to put here. dudes, I so agree with your last two statements wholeheartedly.  A big lesson from being gay is that you should jsut be YOU whoever that is. Become the most YOU you that you can. Don't conform to ANY concept other than your inner sense of self. Just bring that out.  Gay people, like people, come in every flavor. try hard to care little what other think.
