Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Ok, Jerry fans, here we go:

The Players is on The Golf Channel Thursday and Friday from 1 pm to 7 pm (ET). Jerry's tee time on Thursday is 12:57, so he'll be on the 1st hole when the broadcast begins. His tee time on Friday is 7:47 am, so he'll probably finish all 18 holes before the broadcast begins.

If he makes the cut, the Saturday and Sunday broadcasts are 12 to 2 on The Golf Channel and 2 to 7 on NBC.

This thread hit 18,000 hits in January. We just passed 26,600 hits in only 4 months. That's over 2,000 hits/month!

Thank you, Jerry fans. Keep the faith.

UPDATE 5/11: Oh dear, Jerry fans. I was fighting back tears yesterday as I was following the live scoring on the internet. Jerry had a terrible round, 10 over par, dead last. I haven't seen any of the broadcast yet, but you can bet if he got any coverage at all we certainly won't see that irresistible Irish smile. He's already finished today's round at even par (and the broadcast hasn't begun yet), so he did not make the cut to play the weekend. sad

http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Jerry+Kelly+PLAYERS+Championship+Round+Two+s8Z3MIN-ibol.jpg

Next week is the Byron Nelson Classic. The field isn't posted yet, but Jerry played in this tournament last year so keep your fingers crossed.

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Jerry is in the field for the Byron Nelson Classic this weekend. His tee time on Thursday is very early and he'll finish before the broadcast begins, but I'm guessing that his tee time on Friday will be around 1 pm (EDT) and the broadcast starts at 3.

UPDATE: Jerry's tee time on Friday is 1:50 (EDT) so he'll be on the course for most or all of the broadcast. Cross your fingers!!

UPDATE: Jerry shot a -2 today, only 4 off the lead. Some of the leaders have early tee times tomorrow (Friday) and will finish before the broadcast begins, so I think we have a good chance of seeing Jerry in tomorrow's round! Go, Jerry!

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

I haven't seen the broadcast yet, but Jerry made the cut!! The course must be really hard because the cut line was +2. Jerry's at -1 and the leader is at -7. His tee time tomorrow (Saturday) is 10:35 (EDT). He's playing with Ernie Els and Jobe Brant so keep a lookout. The broadcast is from 3 to 6.

UPDATE (Saturday): Oh, no!! He's 6 over par through 10 holes...dead last, and he'll probably finish before the broadcast even starts.  sad

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Dear Jerry Fans,

First, I have to note that we've just passed 28,000 hits. That's amazing. That's 2,000 hits in the past two weeks. It makes me happy that there're so many Jerry fans out there.

Jerry was on the 4th or 5th hole when at the Crowne Plaza Invitational when Thursday's broadcast started, and was still on the 16th or 17th hole when the broadcast ended, but we didn't see a single shot of Jerry all day. He got a birdie on the first hole, but had a double and two bogies in the middle before birdying the 13th to get back to +2. As usual, they only show the leaders and not the "fan favorites". He played Friday's round at even par, but finished before the broadcast began. He did make the cut, though, and will play the weekend, but his tee time on Saturday is 9:10 (EDT) and he'll finish before the broadcast starts at 3. Maybe we'll see him if he plays well (and gets a later tee time) on Sunday.

All we've seen of Jerry in the last several weeks are 2 holes in the first round of the Players, and a birdie attempt at the 15th hole in the second round of the Byron Nelson Classic. Sigh.

Toby

Dear Jerry Fans,

Well, we didn't see a single shot of Jerry for the entire 4 days of the Crowne Plaza Invitational, but don't despair. Jerry's in the field for this weekend's Memorial Tournament. His tee time on Thursday is 1:16 and the broadcast starts at 3:00. Keep the faith, and keep those fingers crossed!  wink

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Dear Jerry Fans,

Well, we've been foiled again. Although he was on the course during yesterday's broadcast, he didn't play very well and didn't get any airtime. His tee time this morning was 8:30, but right now (noon) he's only on the 7th hole, so there must have been some sort of delay. It doesn't take 3 1/2 hours to play 6 holes. He's two over the projected cut line, but you never know. He's still likely to finish before the broadcast starts at 3, though.

If you really need a Jerry fix, however, you can watch the 12th and 15th holes live here:

http://www.pgatour.com/livegolf/?pgat_c … 226x69_Mem

Click the "Watch Live" link. He should be on the 12th hole in an hour or so.

This is all we saw of Jerry at the Memorial. He was on the 18th hole (behind the broadcast tower) about 10 minutes into the broadcast:

...but I found another pic of that great smile:

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Well, Jerry Fans, here's the latest.

Jerry did not qualify for the US Open next weekend, and is not in the filed for the St. Jude. this weekend. A Milwaukee paper indicated that Jerry would be playing in one of the US Open qualifying tournaments yesterday, but he must have withdrawn. I can't find any news about him anywhere. I don't think we'll see him until the Traveler's tournament which is June 21-24. He's played in the tournament every year. I think this tournament is special to him because it's in Connecticut, near to where he attended college.

We also just passed 29,000 hits. Thank you, Jerry fans. Keep the faith. Our boy will be back.

Jerry just announced that he would be playing in the Travelers tournament in two weeks.

Oh, and you're gonna love this. Someone or someones named "WeHeartJK" posted this montage. It's awesome.

It's either someone on this thread, or there's more Jerry fans out there than we realize!  smile

OMG. We just passed 30,000 hits. I feel like we need to celebrate or something. Jerry's not playing in the US Open this weekend, but he is playing in the Traveler's next weekend. Hang in there, Jerry fans.

I was looking for some new picture to post in honor of this milestone, and came across this pic from Caryn Levy's blog entitled "YE Yang and Jerry Kelly compete in synchronized ball marking" from the first round of The Players last month:

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Hey, there, Jerry fans. We just past 31,000 hits!! That's simply amazing. Here's the latest Jerry news:

Jerry's playing in the Travelers Championship, but his tee time tomorrow is 7:20 am, so he'll play all 18 holes before the broadcast even starts at 3 pm (EDT). His tee time on Friday, however, is 12:30, so he'll only be about half-way through his round when the broadcast begins. Set those TiVo's and keep your fingers crossed! Last year he played all 4 rounds under par.

UPDATE Thursday, 2:50 pm: Jerry has already finished his round but he's currently tied for 2nd place! Here's a post-round interview:

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Dear Jerry Fans,

Well, we've been foiled again. He shot a great first round on Thursday, but there were weather delays on Friday and we didn't see him at all. He's playing even par, but the leaders are scoring lots of birdies.

They have live coverage of the 15th and 17th holes here:

http://www.pgatour.com/live-video/livea … layer.html

He's on the 14th hole right now so you can catch him online.

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Dear Jerry Fans,

Jerry's tee time at the Greenbriar Classic on Thursday is 7:40 am, so he'll finish long before the broadcast begins at 3; but his tee time on Friday is 12:50 so he'll still have plenty of holes to go when the broadcast begins. The coverage is 3 to 7 on The Golf Channel.

If Jerry makes the cut and plays the weekend, the coverage is 3 to 6 on CBS.

UPDATE (Thursday night): Jerry's tied for 9th, only 3 in back of the leader. He's gotta get some airtime tomorrow!!

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

OMG!!! Jerry is tied for the lead going into the weekend!!! Set those TiVo's!!

Go Jerry! Your fans will be rooting for you!

UPDATE, Saturday 3:45 pm:  Oh, gees. The golfing gods are being so cruel. Jerry birdied the 5th hole to get within one of the leader (at that time) but bogeyed the 8th hole right before the broadcast began, and he just bogeyed the 11th to drop 5 shots off the lead. I'm holding back tears. Well, he still has 7 holes to go. C'mon, Jerry!!!

UPDATE, Saturday night: Oh, Jerry fans, we've been foiled again. Jerry was on the course for 2 hours and 45 minutes of the 3-hour coverage, but we didn't see a single shot. He was up and down, birdies and bogies, but only played even par for the day and never got close enough to the leaders to get any airtime. They did show Martin Flores's birdie putt on the 14th or 15th hole (in Jerry's group) so we got to see a nice butt shot of Jerry in his bright red pants, but that was all. Well, hang in there everyone. He's tied for 11th, only 6 shots back, with a 12:20 tee time, so keep those fingers crossed!!!

OMG!! We just hit another milestone today (7/7) at 33,000 hits. That's 2,000 hits in the last 17 days. It warms my heart to see so many Jerry fans out there. Keep the faith!

...and I just graduated to Tank Top, too!

UPDATE, Sunday, 4:30 pm: Jerry was on the 10th or 11th hole when the broadcast began, and he birdied the 12th and 13th holes to get within 5 of the lead, but, again, too far off the lead for CBS to bother showing any of it. He just finished his round at 2 under for the day, 10 under for the tournament, but the leaders still have 7 holes to go so who knows. I'm turning off my TV.

Jerry is in the field for the John Deere next week. Stay tuned.

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

I repeat: the golf gods are so cruel. When I wrote the above post, I was away from home and I'd only seen the start of Friday's broadcast. They showed Jerry's birdie putt on the 18th (his 9th hole) to get within 2 of the lead, and then there was a 2 1/2 hour weather delay. They resumed play just as the broadcast was scheduled to end. Since it was on The Golf Channel (and not one of the major networks) I added extra time to the TiVo recording, but didn't actually get to watch it until I got home Monday night.

In the additional Golf Channel coverage from 7 to about 8:30 pm, they showed Jerry on almost every hole and he was tied for the lead going into the weekend (as I noted above), but I feel bad for all of the Jerry fans that didn't or would not have known about the extended broadcast. Foiled again!!

Jerry's in the field for the John Deere Classic this weekend. The coverage is 3 to 6 Thursday and Friday on The Golf Channel and Saturday and Sunday on CBS. Jerry's tee time on Thursday is 1:05 so set those TiVo's. His tee time on Friday is 7:50 so he'll finish before the broadcast even begins.

Hang in there, Jerry fans. There were so many putts last weekend that were sooooo close that, with a little luck, Jerry could have easily won. He's still in great form and quite capable of winning another tournament. Keep thinking good thoughts and keep those fingers crossed.

UPDATE (Sunday afternoon): Well, Jerry didn't play well enough to get any TV coverage, but he did make the cut to play the weekend. His tee time will probably be pretty early in the morning on Saturday, though, so I don't know if we'll see him unless he plays well and starts climbing that leader board.

Go Jerry!!

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Well, Jerry fans, our boy did ok this week. He made it to -9 and is in the top 125 in FedEx points. He didn't get any airtime, though. His final rounds on Saturday and Sunday were done long before the broadcasts even began.

He's not playing in the British Open next week, but he is in the field for the True South Classic which will be on The Golf Channel from 3 to 6 for all 4 days.

Oh, and we just passed 34,000 hits. That's 1000 hits in the last week! That's simply amazing.

Hang in there! Go Jerry!

UPDATE, Wednesday: Jerry's tee time on Thursday is 7:45 am, so he'll finish before the broadcast. His tee time on Friday is 1:45 pm, so he should be on the course for the entire broadcast.

UPDATE, Friday: Well, Jerry fans, I think we might be foiled again. There was a rain delay yesterday so they're finishing round one this morning and Jerry's tee time has been moved to 5:44, only 15 minutes before the broadcast ends. Our only hope is if The Golf Channel extends the coverage beyond 6 pm.

UPDATE, Friday night: Yep. We've been foiled again, but it's partially my fault. His tee time is 5:44 Central time, which is 6:44 Eastern time, 44 minutes after the broadcast is over, and The Golf Channel is not showing any extended coverage. They're rehashing the British Open instead. We won't get to see any of Jerry's 2nd round. sad

UPDATE, later Friday night: Oh gees. Jerry must be cursed. He had a 21' put on 5 for an EAGLE and a 31' put on 6 for a birdie to get to 5 under par, and all without any TV coverage. They stopped the game due to darkness. Oh, the golf gods are cruel!!

UPDATE, Saturday, 3pm: Jerry finished his 2nd round at 3 under par (6 under for the tournament) about 20 minutes before the broadcast started. There's still 7 or 8 groups on the field finishing their 2nd round. The 3rd round is projected to start around 3:30 (local, 4:30 EDT), but Jerry is tied for 30th so he won't be teeing off for awhile. Hopefully we can catch him later in the broadcast.

UPDATE: Saturday, 5pm: They're so far behind schedule that they're playing threesomes and half the field started on the back nine. Jerry is in the first group that started on the front 9 at 4:30. He's playing with Marco Dawson and Scott Brown so keep a lookout!

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

Jerry isn't playing in The Open. He is playing in the True South Classic. Because of bad weather, they didn't finish the 2nd round until yesterday afternoon, and Jerry finished his round before the broadcast started.

They *did* interview him on the practice range between rounds, though, and in the highlights from earlier in the day, they showed his birdie putt on 17. He also birdied the 18th but they didn't bother to show that. He started his 3rd round around 4:30, but they didn't show any of Jerry's third round. They only showed a few golfers actually on the course and instead showed highlights from earlier in the day for most of the broadcast.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/139114278/JK/jktsc.jpg

He shot a very respectable 68 yesterday, to get to -10, tied for 28th, and his tee time today was 11:15 (about 15 minutes ago) so he'll still be on the back nine when the broadcast begins at 3. He's playing with Boo Weekly and Willie Wood so keep a lookout!!

UPDATE 11:45:  OMG, he just birdied the first 2 holes to move into a tie for 10th!!

UPDATE 12:30:  OMG, he's birdied 4 of the first 5 holes to get to 5th place!!

UPDATE 3:25: Jerry hit a miraculous shot only 1 foot from the hole on 15 (which he would also birdie) and was still at -4 (tied for 12th) and on the 16th fairway when the broadcast started, but they're only showing the leaders. He just parred the 17th. He birdied the 18th the previous 2 rounds, so maybe they'll show him if he birdies it again, but I'd doubt it.

He is in the field for the RBC Canadian Open next week so keep the faith!!

Ok, Jerry fans. We just passed 35,000 hits so here's your update:

Jerry's tee time at the RBC Canadian Open on Thursday is 7:50 am so he'll finish long before the broadcast begins. His tee time on Friday, however, is 12:50 so he should be on the course for most of the broadcast. If he makes the cut and plays the weekend, I'll update this post.

Thursday and Friday on The Golf Channel, Saturday and Sunday on CBS, all four days from 3 pm to 6pm.

Re: Jerry Kelly (golfer)

The good news, Jerry fans, is that Jerry made the cut to play the weekend at the RBC Canadian Open.  He's 2 under par.

The bad news is:

1) They didn't show a single shot of his 2nd round, not even his birdie putt on the 17th hole. We only got glimpses of Jerry in the background of Arjun Atwal and Stephen Ames. The former because he was one of the few players still on the field with a decent (-5) score (most of the leaders were already in the clubhouse),  and the latter because he is Canadian and in danger of missing the cut (which he did).

2) His tee time is 11:40 am so he'll be on the 12th or 13th hole when the broadcast starts. Let's hope he plays well, gets some air time on Saturday, and a later tee time on Sunday.

Go Jerry!!!!
